A New Yorker combines an umbrella with a slice of pizza, transforming two familiar objects into a humorous portrait of everyday life in New York City. The umbrella, associated with protection and navigating unpredictable conditions, is replaced by pizza, an iconic symbol of the city’s fast, accessible, and culturally embedded street life. The absurd combination reflects my experience of adapting to New York, where unfamiliar routines gradually become ordinary and recognizable objects begin to carry new associations. Through humor and visual contradiction, the drawing considers belonging not as a fixed identity but as something accumulated through daily habits, encounters, and adaptation to the rhythms of a place.
