Use-Less, 2023

Information :

Use-Less begins with a habit I observed in my father since childhood: carefully writing down and keeping a record of everyday expenses. By covering a $100 bill with handwritten names of ordinary purchases, the work transforms currency from a symbol of monetary value into a record of consumption. The title operates as a play between “useless” and “use less,” questioning how quickly money loses its perceived value through continuous spending while also suggesting restraint and awareness. The work reflects on learned attitudes toward money, necessity, and consumption, asking us to consider not only what we spend, but how our everyday choices determine what money ultimately becomes.
