Geography of Silence, 2025
Description :
Geography of Silence brings together two forms associated with separation and unity: the razor blade and Pangea. The enlarged blade frames the silhouette of the ancient supercontinent, transforming an instrument designed to cut into a boundary around a landmass that once existed without the geographic divisions we recognize today.
The work reflects on migration, displacement, and the human impulse to create borders around identities, territories, and cultures. Pangea points toward a geological history that precedes nations and political boundaries, while the razor blade introduces the possibility of division, suggesting how separation can become embedded in the way we understand belonging. Rendered directly onto plywood, the natural grain remains visible beneath the image, reinforcing a sense of material history and continuity. Geography of Silence considers the tension between a world that was once physically connected and the boundaries through which we now define ourselves.
