The Corporate Leash, 2025

Description :

Corporate Leash merges a necktie with a noose, transforming a familiar symbol of professionalism into an image of constraint. The tie traditionally signifies ambition, respectability, and upward mobility, while the noose introduces an opposing language of pressure, entrapment, and loss of agency. By allowing one form to become the other, the work questions how easily aspiration can turn into obligation.

The drawing reflects on professional systems in which success often requires individuals to conform to prescribed behaviors, appearances, schedules, and definitions of achievement. What is worn voluntarily as a marker of progress can gradually become something that tightens around the individual. The work does not reject ambition itself, but examines the compromises and pressures that can accompany it. Corporate Leash asks where professional discipline ends and self-imposed captivity begins, and whether the structures that promise advancement can also become the ones that bind us.
