पुष्पा, 2022

Description :

पुष्पा (Pushpa) brings together a smoking pipe and a flower, two objects associated with very different forms of pleasure. The pipe suggests consumption, habit, and temporary satisfaction, while the flower evokes growth, beauty, and something meant to be nurtured. By allowing the stem of the pipe to transform into the stem of a flower, the drawing blurs the boundary between what nourishes us and what slowly consumes us. Smoke disappears into the air while the flower opens outward, creating opposing gestures of depletion and renewal within a single object. The work uses this visual contradiction to question how easily desire can disguise itself as comfort, and how the same pursuit of pleasure can carry possibilities of both flourishing and self-destruction.
