The Path, 2022
Information :
The Path transforms discarded and uneven pieces of wood into a fragmented walkway that culminates in a tall, irregular ladder. The work reflects on ambition and the uncertain routes through which we pursue progress. Rather than presenting success as a clean and continuous ascent, the mismatched planks create a path that must be navigated carefully, while the ladder gradually narrows as it rises, making advancement appear increasingly precarious. Differences in the wood’s condition, scale, and stability evoke the unequal circumstances, limitations, opportunities, and unexpected obstacles that shape an individual’s journey. By inviting the body to physically move across the work, The Path turns progress into an experience of negotiation and adaptation, suggesting that there is rarely a predetermined or secure route forward. The destination may remain visible, but reaching it requires continually finding balance within instability.
