Shifting Boundaries draws from Piyush Mishra’s reflection on repeatedly creating boundaries for life, only to find that the lines remain while the self continues to move. Multiple overlapping hands appear as traces of the same person across different moments, suggesting repeated attempts to locate, define, and stabilize oneself. At the center, the dark palm lines remain comparatively fixed while the hands shift around them, turning the traditional association of palm lines with destiny into a metaphor for the tension between what seems predetermined and what changes through lived experience. The work asks whether our circumstances and boundaries truly move with us, or whether we are the ones continually repositioning ourselves in relation to them. The repetition of the hand transforms a single identity into a sequence of adjustments, reflecting life as an ongoing negotiation between destiny, choice, and adaptation.
