The Click Clack / Mother Tongue, 2024
Information :
The Click Clack / Mother Tongue merges a woman’s high heel with the form of a tongue, transforming the familiar sound of footsteps into a metaphor for voice, authority, and presence. The rhythmic click-clack of heels can announce someone before she enters a room or speaks a word, allowing sound itself to become a form of communication. By shaping the shoe as a tongue, the work connects physical movement with verbal expression, suggesting that the body can speak even in silence. Carved in black marble and accented with brass, the sculpture gives weight and permanence to an otherwise fleeting sound. The title Mother Tongue extends this idea beyond spoken language, proposing that identity, confidence, and social presence can constitute languages of their own.
