States of Mind, 2018

Description :

States of Mind explores the gradual transformation of perception under the influence of external pressures, structures, and expectations. Five ceramic heads move upward in a progression, while the attached pipes become increasingly reduced and fragmented. As the external structure changes, so does the form of each head, suggesting how our ways of thinking and seeing are continually shaped, adjusted, and constrained by what surrounds us. The work reflects my interest in the tension between the individual and the systems that quietly influence how we perceive ourselves and the world.
