Fantasy I , 2019

Description :

Fantasy I imagines the possibility of mechanically regulating language at moments when emotions overwhelm our ability to communicate. An adjustable device embedded within the neck becomes a fictional tool for controlling what is allowed to pass from thought into speech. Through humor and absurdity, the work reflects on anger, anxiety, restraint, and the tension between emotional impulse and self-control, questioning what might happen if our words could be regulated as precisely as a machine.
