Inflated, 2026

Description :

Inflated merges a balloon with the exaggerated form of abdominal muscles, bringing together physical strength and something literally filled with air. The work uses humor to question contemporary ideas of fitness, masculinity, and bodily perfection, where the appearance of strength can become more important than strength itself. By placing a muscular body inside an object associated with inflation, fragility, and eventual deflation, the drawing turns the idealized physique into a metaphor for ego and manufactured self-image, asking how much of what appears powerful is actually substance, and how much is simply inflated.
