Graduate In a Space, 2021

Description :

Graduate in a Space reflects the precarious position of an artist immediately after completing an academic degree. The sculpture transforms this condition into a physical balancing act: a substantial form narrows dramatically until it appears to rest on an almost impossibly small point. For a practicing artist, financial security and creative commitment can often pull in opposing directions. Focusing on stable income can consume the time and energy necessary for a sustained practice, while prioritizing the studio can mean accepting economic uncertainty. The work considers this unstable space not only as a source of pressure, but also as a productive condition in which persistence, discipline, and artistic identity are tested and developed. What appears fragile is still standing, suggesting that balance is not necessarily a state of comfort, but an ongoing act of adjustment.
