Artist Statement:
My work is a continuous exploration of identity, perception, and the social constructs that shape our lives. I dissect and reassemble familiar objects and cultural symbols, using them to challenge ingrained assumptions and invite new perspectives. At the heart of my practice is the exploration of cultural translation, displacement, and the socio-economic dimensions of migration, with a focus on the complex interplay between personal, generational, and multicultural experiences. By blending figuration and abstraction, I create works that encourage reflection on the subtle nuances of these themes.
Working primarily with raw materials like steel, bronze, marble, and graphite, I aim to imbue my sculptures with narratives of dignity, resilience, and the human experience. These materials are selected not just for their aesthetic qualities, but for their ability to convey the complexity of the stories I wish to tell. Each piece is born from meticulous research and often incorporates subtle satire, critiquing social constructs and providing commentary on the socio-political landscape. It's through this practice that I seek to create spaces for dialogue, inviting viewers to explore the layers of identity and social structures that shape our collective experience, challenging them to engage with the diverse, complex stories that define our shared humanity.
