Surreal Heat, 2026

Description :

Surreal Heat transforms a simple shirt pocket into a poetic and surreal gesture, merging the language of painting with the familiarity of daily life. By sewing a pocket onto a stretched canvas and placing a pencil inside it, the artist subverts expectation through a quiet inversion: instead of a pen leaking ink, a pencil leaves a painted mark. The piece reflects on small absurdities that reveal larger systems of perception, labor, and identity. The image of the “leak” becomes a metaphor for moments when ideas, emotions, or responsibilities escape containment, exposing the tension between control and vulnerability. Through minimal intervention and subtle humor, the work blurs the line between function and imagination, inviting reflection on the ways formality and creativity interact in ordinary routines.
