Between Home and World, 2026
Description :
Between Home and World presents a hybrid pair of footwear combining the front of formal shoes with the back of slippers, cast in brass and placed on a grass mat. The work reflects on the negotiation between comfort and conformity, intimacy and public performance. The polished formal front symbolizes the persona we wear to align with societal expectations, while the slipper-like back suggests the ease and authenticity of private space. By merging these two forms, the artist exposes the tension between external presentation and internal comfort, between adapting to systems and remaining grounded in personal truth. Using brass, a material of permanence and weight, the piece transforms an everyday object into a meditation on the subtle pressures of belonging and appearance.
